Normally, these types of posters are kinda 'meh' for me, but this one is wonderful in that it evokes a feeling of nostalgia.
I was a big fan of the Chronicles of Narnia books when I was younger, still am today, and this poster is reminiscent of those times when I would spend all day reading them and getting lost in imagination.
The poster reminds me of the part in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe toward the end when the Pevensie children are kings and queens hunting for the rare white stag. They come across the lampost which reminded them of a memory of the reality they came from thus eventually lead them back to the life they originally came from.
Some say design is design and can't be anything but. I believe that if a design can make you feel something, then why can't it be art? Regardless of what the designers original intent, I still felt something and it moved me in some way. And to me, that makes it art.
Design doesn't have to be surgically cold or intent on just being a means for capital gain. It can be emotive, beautiful, artistic, all the above.
Food for thought.
